Want to elope in Norway?

For couples who want to explore a new country and get married in the most breathtaking landscapes of Norway, with a born-and-raised Norwegian elopement photographer to plan and capture the whole adventure.

“Nina is absolutely incredible! We got married in Norway, and Nina organized almost everything. She knew how important fjord photos were to us and even found last minute location changes due to Bergen’s rainy weather. We could not be happier with the finished product, nor would our wedding have happened how we wanted had we not worked with Nina. She is fun, personable, professional, and all around amazing. If you have the chance to work with her you should take it!”

I’m Nina, and I’m Norwegian

(The born-and-raised kind.)

I grew up on a small island off the coast of Trøndelag, in the middle of Norway, with a population of 800 people. I spent my childhood cross-country skiing, hiking, canoeing, and road-tripping across Norway. I even had a pet fox.

Come to think of it, my childhood was cooler than I gave it credit for.

But I’m also Coloradan

Hiker chick, mom, snow enthusiast, and elopement photographer.

I moved to Colorado in 2010, fell in love, and sixteen years later I’m still exploring my way across the mile high state. I’ve planned and photographed over 300 weddings and elopements, and I love nothing more than to help couples get married in a way that they’re excited about.

After a pandemic-induced delay, I’m finally offering elopements in Norway again. I know my home country even better than I know Colorado, and would love to help you elope here.

Norway Travel Inspiration

Lofoten Islands

The Lofoten Islands are possibly the most popular place to elope in Norway, with easy access to some of the most incredible landscapes on earth, as well as longer hikes to jagged summits and remote arctic beaches. Most tourists stay in the area between Reine and Å on the western edge of the archipelago, but there are so many more places to explore if you want to enjoy the beauty of the north without busloads of people around you.

I love Lofoten for micro weddings as you’ll find some of my favorite small venues here, and all your guests can stay together in individual cabins on the same property. And while Lofoten is one of the best places to see the northern lights, it’s also home to some nasty winter storms, so eloping here in winter is best for couples with a good sense of adventure!

Vestlandet

Vestlandet is the westernmost part of Norway, and covers a huge variety of landscapes from islands west of Bergen to Norway’s two largest fjords—Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord—to the alpine mountains in the east. With Bergen as the second largest airport in the country, this region is a popular place to elope for its ease of travel and of course the beautiful views you’ll find around every curve in the road.

Bergen is a great place for micro weddings where you need to book a venue and lodging for many guests, but the best views are found in the many small towns scattered around the fjords. This area is perfect for couples who want to see the fjords, who love historical buildings, and who want to experience all our biggest waterfalls.

Sunnmøre

Sunnmøre is one of my favorite regions in Norway, and most of my favorite elopement locations can be found here. It’s a bit less busy than Vestlandet, and driving through the fjords here can take all day when you add in ferry rides and narrow, winding roads, but in return the landscapes are wild. Ålesund is the largest city in the area, and a great place to start and end your elopement trip with gourmet restaurants and the most beautiful city architecture in Norway. But the real beauty is found in little villages where the Sunnmøre Alps rise up from the fjords. (This area is also *great* for ski touring!)

Innlandet

While you won’t hear many stories of people traveling to Norway just to visit Innlandet, I think this is the most underrated part of the country. With eleven national parks, including Rondane, Jotunheimen, Reinheimen, and Dovrefjell, this is where you’ll find many of Norway’s tallest peaks and most epic hiking trails. There are also countless charming old lodges and cabins that can host everything from big weddings to small elopements, as well as historic stave churches dating back to the 1100’s.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, it’s one of my favorite parts of planning! Whether you already have an idea of where you want to travel or know absolutely nothing about Norway, I’ll help you find the perfect location for your elopement.

I do not charge travel fees on top of the prices listed here for elopements in Norway, because I’m always happy for an excuse to travel back home.

I help my couples with location guides, vendor recommendations, travel itineraries, and creating a timeline for the elopement day(s). My couples also get a big planning guide with tips on wedding attire, adventure gear, activity ideas, lodging and travel, and everything else I’ve learned from planning and photographing over 250 weddings & elopements since 2017.

No! There are so many incredible views in Norway that you can drive right up to, and we can also take a ferry, sleigh ride, snowmobile, gondola, or any number of adventurous transportation methods if you don’t want to hike on your elopement day.

Generally speaking, locations off the beaten path will feel more secluded, but we can avoid crowds at easily accessible locations by visiting at off peak times.

Short answer: no—however many people you want to be a part of your elopement, there are ways to make it happen.

That being said, many locations on public lands have group size restrictions. The smaller you keep your guest list, the more locations you’ll have to choose from, and especially if you want a free and secluded location. Once your group gets bigger than 10-15 people, you’ll most likely need to book a venue.

Norway has a lot of beautiful, historic wedding venues that would be great for an intimate wedding, and I’m happy to help you find the perfect one.

I generally don’t book more than 18 months in advance, and most of my couples book around a year out—but reach out no matter when you’re getting married. If I’m available, I’d love to help you plan and capture the day!

You do not need to have a specific date picked out before contacting me. If you want warm weather and wildflowers, fall colors, or a winter wonderland, I can help you pick the best date based on the location, weather, and avoiding any local events or holidays that can make a place more crowded than normal.

Get in touch via my contact form, and tell me all about what you want from your elopement, and what you’ve planned so far. If I’m available, we’ll schedule a video chat to talk more about your plans and how I can help you. This part is super important! The more comfortable you are around your photographer, the better your photos will be, too, so let’s make sure we’re a good fit before you book.

If you decide to work with me, I’ll send you a booking link with your contract and the invoice for the 50% retainer. Once you’ve signed and paid it’s official and we’ll get started on planning your elopement.

You’ll get 5-10 sneak peek photos within two days after your wedding, and your full gallery will be ready within six weeks.

Your photos are delivered in a digital gallery that you can easily share with family and friends. You can download your photos as many times as you want, as high resolution files without any watermarks. Your online gallery will be live for one year, so you’ll need to download and backup your photos elsewhere.

The exact number of photos will depend on how many hours I’m there for, and what’s happening throughout the day, but around 50 photos per hour of coverage is normal. You’ll get all the good stuff, without any unflattering photos or lots of duplicates of the exact same thing.

Yes, every photo is edited in a style consistent with what you see on my website. I don’t retouch body shapes, hair, skin, or clothing, because I want you to look like yourselves in your photos!

You can order high quality prints, wall art, cards, and wedding albums directly from your online gallery. All products ordered from your gallery come from my preferred printing labs, and are shipped directly to your home.

You’ll also get a print release that allows you to print your photos anywhere you’d like, but I can’t guarantee the colors and quality on any prints and products ordered outside of your gallery shop.
