About Nina Reed
Sixteen years ago, I bought a one-way ticket from Norway to Colorado, packed my suitcase and my camera, and headed out on what’s turned into a bigger adventure than I ever could have imagined.
Instead of spending a year in Boulder before returning to the small island I grew up on, I fell in love. I fell in love with bluebird days in winter, hiking through the Rocky Mountains, and with a snowboarder named Justin.
Now I split my time between Colorado and Norway, and photograph weddings and elopements in both of my homes.
“From the very beginning, we felt so comfortable with Nina — she is incredibly personable, easy to get along with, and just so down to earth. We would recommend working with Nina in a heartbeat, not only because of her incredible talent, but because of the truly magical experiences she helps create. We could not have have asked for a more perfect day or a more perfect photographer to share it with!”

I am a Colorado woman through and through; hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and skiing. But my favorite way to feel alive is swimming in alpine lakes—and yes, that’s as cold as it sounds!

Didn’t I just say I’m Coloradan? A Norwegian born-and-raised one. I literally cross-country skied to school as a kid, and I’m so stoked to now live in a place where I can ski out into the wilderness for more than half the year.

Exploring with my family is my favorite thing in the world, and I’m so freaking excited to raise a daughter who already loves the mountains as much as her parents do.
“From the moment Nina arrived at our cabin we felt like we were hanging with an old friend. It was never awkward, and we could feel how much she enjoyed her work and being part of our elopement.”

Why weddings?
When my husband and I eloped in 2011, we had no idea that we could have gotten married outside in the snow-covered mountains we love—so we went to the Boulder courthouse and called it good. And while it got the job done, we always wished we’d done something more meaningful to us.
When my best friend got married at a luxury wedding venue in southwest Colorado called Dunton Hot Springs, I spent the whole weekend jealous of her photographer.
I immediately transitioned my photography business from portraits to weddings and elopements, and I’ve never looked back. It truly feels like my calling to help other couples have the intentional, meaningful wedding days that I didn’t get myself—whatever that looks like for you.
And in 2020, Justin and I finally got the elopement experience we wished for when we renewed our vows in the San Juan mountains.
